How to Meet Girls Confidently

If you're a shy guy, meeting new people can be intimidating and overwhelming. Meeting members of the opposite sex can be even more frightening, especially if you want to impress them. Many women appreciate men who have sensitive sides to their personalities, but you still have to present yourself with confidence to capture their attentions. In addition to simply building your self-esteem, there are several easy ways that you can appear more confident when meeting girls.

1. Stand up straight. Girls pick up on non-verbal cues from your body language, so don't slouch and keep your hands stuffed in your pockets. Use good posture, look up instead of at the floor, and use your hands to naturally make gestures when you speak instead of hiding them.

2. Keep a smile on your face. Girls respond to positive people, and confident people tend to be positive. Smile, nod in agreement, and laugh at appropriate times during a conversation. If you appear to be happy, she will know that you are happy because you are talking to her. If you're frowning or seem anxious or overly nervous, she may wonder what about her is causing you to act that way.

3. Maintain eye contact during the entire conversation. Don't look down at the ground, stare at your hands, or look to the side or behind her. If you do, she may think you're not focused on the conversation or are not interested in her. Don't maintain eye contact for so long that you creep her out, though -- it's OK to look down or away for a brief moment.

4. Communicate using direct language. If you want to ask her to dance, introduce yourself and ask, "Would you like to dance?" Don't engage her in a long conversation because you're too nervous to ask her for what you want. She won't understand why you're droning on and on. If she says no, accept her refusal politely. Say "OK" and then excuse yourself. Continuing to try to get her to dance with you will make you appear needy and desperate.
