The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims to have seen a bright white light above the area near Findhorn Bridge at approximately 7pm on Thursday (January 13) from his home in Pilmuir.
"I went out in the garden to have a better look and called my wife," he said. "She saw it too, but we can't have been the only ones as it was quite bright. I wondered if anyone else had seen anything."
He reported seeing a white light and then just underneath a bright red orb, which he claimed appeared to be pulsing on and off.
"It was there for about 30 seconds and then seemed to move off towards Elgin direction and just disappeared," he said. "I phoned RAF Kinloss and asked them if there were any aircraft in the area and they said no."
He is convinced it was neither a Chinese lantern or a flare, as he has previously seen both. He took a photograph on his mobile phone which clearly shows two unusual lights.
His sighting is similar to that reported in the 'Gazette' by Don MacArthur from Nelson Road last summer who took photographs after seeing a bright white light and trailing pink light in the skies above his home last summer.
