Secret Shopper Tips | Be a secret shopper now an get paid

A "secret shopper" (or "mystery shopper") is an anonymous consumer who is paid by a company to shop at their establishment and provide feedback. A mystery shopper can be assigned to evaluate retail stores, restaurants, or hotels -- anywhere people spend money. While it may seem like a dream job to some, there is a definite responsibility that goes with this line of work. Mystery shoppers are often tasked with rating customer service and product offerings.

Be Professional
Professionalism is a must in all lines of work, but especially in mystery shopping, as you are providing a company with a direct line to how they can improve their business. Do not accept jobs you are unable to fulfill, and if you are unable to complete the job make sure you notify your scheduler as soon as possible. After completing a job, make sure you fill out all paperwork in a timely manner.

Be Discreet
The purpose of the mystery shopper is to provide information from the point of view of a normal customer. When you go to complete a job, do not bring forms or paperwork with you to the store. Make sure you blend in with the other shoppers and do not draw attention to yourself. If a store knows you are a mystery shopper, you will not be given "regular" service, so staying anonymous is a must in order to provide helpful comments to your employer.

Be Thorough
When filling out your reports make sure they are as detailed as possible. Companies will often want to know names of employees, how long before you were greeted, products on display, whether or not the employee did any suggestive selling, was friendly, etc. Make sure your report includes any pertinent information so any glitches in products or services are fixed in a timely fashion. Without honest input nothing that needs fixing will be changed.

Have Fun
Being a mystery shopper is fun, so enjoy the experience! You will literally be paid to shop -- something most of us only dream of -- so take full advantage of that experience. While the job is demanding, it is also rewarding to know you are making positive changes to a company's performance, and you can earn some extra money while enjoying new shops and restaurants.  (Source: by Danielle Hill of eHow.com )
